We collect personal information only where it is authorized by sections 26(c) and 26(e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (BC) and is necessary for our mandate to plan, provide and evaluate the pension plans, pension administrative services, related programs and communications. When you visit this website, our web server automatically collects a limited amount of information for the operation and security of the website.
If you are a member of a Pension Corporation administered pension plan or you have engaged with Pension Corporation, for example as a spouse, representative or beneficiary.
The personal information we use is collected primarily from two sources: you and pension plan employers. Some examples include identity and contact information, unique identification numbers (e.g., SIN, Person ID number), spousal and beneficiary information, employee and salary information, banking, tax and payment information, health-related information, enquiry, and call records.
We use personal information for individual member purposes and for broader plan administrative purposes including to evaluate the pension plans and the services provided by the Pension Corporation.
Your personal information may also be shared with your pension plan employer (where applicable) and other third parties where it is legally authorized. This includes Canada Revenue Agency, other pension plans, representatives or service providers.
We retain personal information for as long as it’s needed to administer the plan and as we are authorized or required by law.
Protecting your personal information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Access to personal information is limited to employees on a “need to know” basis as required for their business functions and employees receive privacy training. We utilize the latest technology such as firewalls, data encryption, and authorization controls to prevent unauthorized access to information. These safeguards are periodically reviewed to ensure they continue to be appropriate in protecting your personal information.
Accuracy and Access to your Personal Information
You are responsible for ensuring the personal information we have on file about you is accurate and current. To request access or to request a correction of your personal information, please make a request in writing identifying yourself, the information you want to review and how we can contact you. Requests can be made using Message Centre in My Account or in writing:
