Corrections
The plan changed April 1, 2022, for correctional officers, probation officers and youth probation officers working for BC Corrections.
Correctional officers, probation officers and youth probation officers have a public safety designation. This means they have a different plan design and early retirement provisions than regular members. Both public safety members and regular members can work for BC Corrections.
Effective April 1, 2022, the Public Service Pension Board used a portion of the 2020 valuation surplus to amend contribution rates and the accrual rate for public safety members working in BC Corrections. The changes were effective for service as of April 1, 2022.
Service earned prior to April 1, 2022, reflects the plan design in effect at the time.
Note: Some members have a combination of public safety service and regular service. Please note different plan designs and early retirement provisions apply to each type of service.
