Learn about buying service for eligible periods of employment that occurred before you or your employer joined the College Pension Plan


Cost for past service

The cost to buy past service depends on:

  • Your age
  • Your current full-time gross monthly salary (or full-time equivalent, if you work part time)
  • The actuarial value of the increase in your pension benefit

You are responsible for the entire cost of buying past service; your employer will not pay any portion of it.

To determine the cost of buying past service, you need to complete and send us a Purchase of service application and we will calculate the amount. You cannot use the tools in My Account to estimate the cost.
