Who you can name as a beneficiary
Learn who you can name as a beneficiary to receive your pension benefit when you die.
Name an organization as your beneficiary
You can name an organization (such as a society, charity, association or corporation) as a non-person beneficiary to receive some or all of your pension benefit when you die.
You must specify the organization's exact name (such as a specific chapter or branch) to ensure it receives your pension benefit.
It is helpful to include the organization’s nine-digit Canada Revenue Agency registration number on the beneficiary nomination form. Contact the organization for this number. Doing this will ensure timely payment to the correct organization.
If the organization is no longer operating when you die, the portion of your pension benefit allocated to the organization will be paid to your estate. If you've named multiple beneficiaries, the organization’s portion will be shared equally among them.
