Terms and conditions
The My Account website, including all available features and services (collectively, the "Website") is provided to members and other beneficiaries entitled to benefits (“Plan Beneficiary”, “you” or “your”) from the College Pension Plan, Municipal Pension Plan, Public Service Pension Plan, Teachers' Pension Plan or WorkSafeBC Pension Plan (collectively, the "Pension Plans").
Your access to and use of the Website is subject to these terms and conditions (“Terms”). By registering for, accessing or using the Website, or otherwise accepting or agreeing to these Terms, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these Terms and that you agree to be bound by them.
Access to and use of the Website is only available to Plan Beneficiaries and by accessing and using the Website, you confirm that you are a Plan Beneficiary acting on your own behalf. Representatives of Plan Beneficiaries, including those acting under a power of attorney, must contact the BC Pension Corporation (the “Pension Corporation”) to arrange for access to the information and services provided on the Website. The Pension Corporation is the administrative agent of the Pension Plans.
The Pension Corporation and the Pension Plans are governed by several statutes and regulations, including the Public Sector Pension Plans Act, the Pension Benefits Standards Act, the Family Law Act, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the federal Income Tax Act, and associated regulations (collectively, “Applicable Law”).
Consent to electronic delivery and communications
You consent to receive electronic delivery of documents through the Website and to receive notice by email (at the email address you have provided) that these documents have been delivered. The Website allows you to view and print these documents. The documents that will be delivered to you electronically include, but are not limited to, information, statements and notices that the Pension Corporation is required to provide to you under Applicable Law. For example, your annual Member’s Benefit Statement and T4A slip.
Despite the above, the Pension Corporation may use alternate methods of delivery if required by Applicable Law or as is appropriate in the circumstances. You may revoke this consent and change your communication preferences, including your email address, either through the Website or by contacting the Pension Corporation. You may also request a paper copy of any document that has been delivered to you electronically by contacting the Pension Corporation.
Regardless of whether you have (or have not) given consent to the electronic delivery of the documents we are required to deliver as described above, the Pension Corporation may use your email address to communicate with you regarding the Pension Plans and the administration of your benefits.
Safeguarding your username and password
The Website contains confidential and personal information about you and your entitlement under the Pension Plans. You agree:
- to safeguard your MyAccount username and password, including not sharing your username and password with others;
- to sign in to the Website using only the username and password that has been assigned to or chosen by you;
- to take full responsibility for all activities occurring under your username and password;
- to not allow others to access or use the Website using your username and password;
- to immediately report the loss or theft of your username or password or any unauthorized use of your username or password as soon as possible to the Pension Corporation; and
- that if, despite the foregoing, others do use the Website under your username and password, you are solely responsible for any activity they authorize from your username and password.
2-Step verification access to the website
The Website uses a 2-step verification process during sign-in as a mandatory security measure to enhance the safety and security of your personal information on the Website., You agree to use a single-use, time-sensitive verification code each time you sign in to the Website. To complete the sign-in process and access your account, you must retrieve the verification code from the email address associated with your account. To confirm your identity and gain access to the Website, you will need to enter a valid verification code, in addition to providing your username and password.

Unacceptable use
You agree that you will not use the Website to, or assist or encourage any other party to, engage in any of the following prohibited activities in relation to the Website:
- use any script, robot, spider, Web crawler, screen scraper, automated query program or other automated device or any manual process to monitor or copy any part of the Website;
- use any device, software or routine to interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Website or to disturb the normal operation of the Website;
- any action that imposes an excessive, unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the Website or the Pension Corporation’s networks, equipment, applications, services, websites or other information technology infrastructure (“IT Infrastructure”);
- use the Website in a manner that will or will have the potential to disrupt, undermine, corrupt, diminish or otherwise threaten or jeopardize the Website or its integrity;
- attempting to add, change or delete data, information or results from the Website in an unauthorized manner;
- collecting or harvesting any information relating to an identifiable individual, including account names and information about users of the Website, from the Website; or
- publish, transmit, distribute or store content, material, information or data that: (i) is illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, or hateful or that advocates violence; (ii) is harmful to or interferes with the Website or the IT Infrastructure of the Pension Corporation or any third party (e.g., viruses, worms, Trojan horses, etc.); or (iii) is fraudulent or contains false, deceptive or misleading statements, claims or representations (such as “phishing”).
You understand that the Pension Corporation may monitor your access and use of the Website to ensure compliance with these Terms. The Pension Corporation may suspend or terminate your access to the Website if, in its sole discretion, it believes that there is a violation of these Terms or that your access to or use of the Website could cause harm to the operations of the Pension Corporation or the Pension Plans. You will cease and desist from any access to, or use of, the Website immediately upon request by the Pension Corporation.
Privacy
Protection of your personal information is Pension Corporation’s priority. To learn more about Pension Corporation’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information review the Pension Corporation’s Privacy Statement, which may be amended from time to time.
The Pension Corporation may gather and analyze certain information of a non-personal nature regarding site usage from all visitors to the Website. Such data is used in an aggregate form to assist the Pension Corporation in determining general usage patterns and to improve the layout and functionality of the Pension Corporation's website. Such site usage and statistical information may be disclosed to third parties at the Pension Corporation's discretion.
Disclaimers
Accuracy of information: The Pension Corporation strives to ensure all information posted on the Website is current, accurate and complete. This includes any information pertaining to the Pension Plans and any of your personal information that is posted on, printed from or obtained through the Website. However, all such information may be subject to change at any time, may not be the most current, accurate or complete information available to the Pension Corporation and is subject to errors of calculation or transcription. To obtain the most current, accurate and complete information, you must contact the Pension Corporation directly.
Discrepancy with applicable law/plan rules: If there is a discrepancy between the Applicable Law or Pension Plans’ plan rules (the “Plan Rules”) and the information you obtain from the Website, the Applicable Law or Plan Rules, as applicable, will prevail. If there is a discrepancy between the data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results obtained through the Website and the actual benefit you will be entitled to receive as determined by the Plan Rules and Applicable Law and calculated when the benefit becomes payable, such actual benefit entitlement takes precedence over such data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results. You should carefully review all the data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results obtained through the Website and report any errors or incorrect or missing information to the Pension Corporation.
Independent advice: The Website is not intended to provide you with specific financial, legal, investment, pension or tax advice. When considering your options with respect to your pension benefits, you may wish to consider obtaining independent financial and legal advice.
Calculator/estimator: The Website may contain a pension calculator, a pension estimator and a purchase cost estimator. Any information you provide and any estimates created by the calculator or the estimator are not reviewed, audited or verified by the Pension Corporation. As a result, any estimate produced by the calculator or estimator is not binding on the Pension Corporation or the Pension Plans. You should not rely on any such estimate in making any financial decisions, any employment decisions, or taking any action with respect to your pension benefits. The actual benefit you will be entitled to receive can only be known and officially calculated when the benefit becomes payable.
Other content disclaimers: To the extent that any data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results obtained through the Website is not information that the Pension Corporation is required to provide to you under Applicable Law: (i) the Pension Corporation, on behalf of itself, the Pension Plans, its agents and employees, disclaims any and all responsibility, including responsibility based on negligence or negligent misstatement, for the accuracy, completeness, reliability, usability or suitability for any particular purpose of the data, information, calculations, estimates or statements contained in or furnished by the Website or for the results obtained from the use of the Website and (ii) the Pension Corporation and the Pension Plans make no warranties, express or implied, with respect to such data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results obtained from the use of the Website.
Information provided by you: The Website may permit you to update or change your personal information such as mailing address or e-mail address, or update or change information about how a payment is made to you. Any information provided and any changes made by you are not reviewed, audited or verified by the Pension Corporation. You are responsible for ensuring that any information provided and any changes made to your personal information are accurate and complete, and are solely responsible for any errors or omissions.
E-mail and internet: Communication by email over the internet and other publicly accessible networks is never completely secure. Any information you send by email may be lost, intercepted or altered while it is being transmitted. If you choose to send information to the Pension Corporation by email or through the Website’s Message Centre platform, you do so at your own risk. The Pension Corporation and the Pension Plans do not assume any liability for any damages you may suffer or costs you may incur as a result of sending information by email or Message Centre, or should you request it, as a result of the Pension Corporation sending information to you by email or Message Centre. This includes any such email or Message Centre correspondence that may contain your personal or confidential information.
Third party websites: References and links to other sites are provided as an information service only. The Pension Corporation is not responsible for the suitability, completeness and accuracy of the materials found on those referenced sites.
Website availability: The Pension Corporation reserves the right, without prior notice to you, to: (i) modify, suspend or terminate operation of, or access to, any portion, features or functions of the Website; and (ii) interrupt the Website, or any portion thereof, as necessary to perform routine or non-routine maintenance, error correction or other modifications.
Liability and indemnity
You agree that the Pension Corporation, the Pension Plans and their respective trustees, agents and employees will not be liable for any losses, damages, costs, actions, suits, debts, accounts, claims and demands caused by or arising out of your use of, or your inability to make use of, the Website or your failure to safeguard your Website username and password. This limitation of liability includes, but is not limited to, hacking, malware or ransomware event involving the Website, or the transmission of any viruses, malware, or malicious applications which may infect a user’s equipment or devices.
You agree to indemnify and save harmless the Pension Corporation, the Pension Plans and their respective trustees, agents and employees, in connection with any and all losses, damages, costs, actions, suits, debts, accounts, claims and demands which the Pension Corporation, the Pension Plans or their respective trustees, agents and employees may suffer or incur or be put to arising out of or in connection with the use of the data, information, calculations, estimates, statements or results obtained through the use of the Website by you or by any third party who was provided such data, information, calculations, estimates or statements or results by you.
Changes to these Terms
The Pension Corporation reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify these Terms at any time, and such modifications shall be effective as soon as they are posted on the Website. As a user of the Website, you agree that you will periodically review the Terms to be aware of any modifications and your continued use of the Website shall be deemed your acceptance of the modified terms.
Copyright Restrictions All information contained on the Website is protected under the copyright laws of Canada and other countries. You may copy information for your own personal use, but you cannot sell, publish or distribute any information on the Website or use it for commercial purposes. Any reproduction of any information contained in the Website, other than for your own personal use, without the express written permission of the Pension Corporation is prohibited by law. The Pension Corporation logo and other identifying marks of the Pension Corporation are and shall remain the official marks of Pension Corporation.
General
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
The failure of the Pension Corporation to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
If any provision of these Terms shall be held to be unenforceable or invalid, such holding shall not in any way affect the enforceability or validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy referred to herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Pension Corporation for use of the Website.
These Terms enure to the benefit of and are binding on you, your heirs and your legal personal representatives and on the Pension Corporation’s respective successors and assigns. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without the Pension Corporation’s prior consent.
